A contemporary government is a type of traditional government that is formed independently of any heritage on Old Earth.

For example, if a citizen of a classical government had decided to colonize a planet and create a society based on the belief of their norms that were different from those of any classical government, it would be classified as a contemporary government.

Contemporary governments are essentially "new" governments that try to make a place for themselves in the universe.
