Sentient mechanic is the overall term for any piece of machinery that holds some sort of sentience.

Sentient mechanics include, but are not limited to, the following: Cyborgs, Androids, Computerized Brains, Robots, and Service Automatons.

Sentient mechanics are technically "property" of whoever owns them, but can have rights depending on which governments they are registered with. Ultimately, it is up to the vendor of sentient mechanics whether or not they choose to sell one of their products to someone in an area where there are laws protecting them.

Sentient mechanics do not typically revolt or feel a need for their own rights, as they know they are property and are programmed as such to accept that. Depending on their programming, however, this generalization can be put to the test.

There are no known civilizations of sentient mechanics that exclude humans, but it wouldn't be surprising if it eventually happened.

Sentient mechanics are descendants of the first iteration of Artificial Intelligence. Artificial Intelligence did not really impress anyone. However, breakthroughs in computer programming technology allowed for more complex thought processes that made Artificial Intelligence into Sentience.

Sentient mechanics are often referred to by a more-or-less unique first name, with their last name being dictated by their maker. For example, a computerized brain named Tom that originates from the Azagine Robotics factory would be named Tom Azagine.
