Terraforming Microabsorption is the process in which a colony of microbes are mutated to a certain expectation and execute a specific task. The microbes typically "absorb" or "consume" a particular type of element or pollutant until it is expunged from whatever surface or area it is planted.

Terraforming Microabsorption is typically used when terraforming on a large scale. It is used, for example, to cleanse water of a particular type of pollution, such as arsenic, and remove it from the water. Most TM formulas can only identify one particular "job" at a time, and another TM formula must be created to remove another part of pollution.

Terraforming Microabsorption is not used for the removal of air pollution. It is generally used for surface or liquid cleansing. There are experiments for aerosol TM formulas that would remove and replace molecules in the air that would otherwise be harmful to humans.
