Hiveminds, known more commonly as a "local Hivemind" is a way to relinquish control of your body by way of brainjacking into the local Hivemind and becoming part of a greater whole.
You are no longer considered an individual as long as your are brainjacked in.
If you are registered as part of the local Hivemind program you can reserve your spot as an individual in society until you are unhooked from the Hivemind. You'll have to put your reservation back in before becoming part of the local Hivemind again, though. Capacity is typically limited but can be expanded.
